A DIY smart home is a demanding project. Setup and upkeep eat time and assume a level of technical know-how, and keeping security practices and protocols current is a burden many underestimate.
A cohesive result is harder still. Devices from different manufacturers often will not talk to each other, so you end up with several apps and fiddly configuration instead of one integrated home. Choosing hardware in the first place is its own maze: reliability, performance and value are hard to judge across an overwhelming field of options.

A professional install is smoother, but it carries its own trade-offs. The upfront investment can be substantial, and vendor lock-in narrows your future options while pushing long-term costs up.
Compatibility limits persist even here. Many popular devices integrate, but not all, which caps how far you can customise. And the control interface some systems ship with is dense and awkward to navigate.

The 3D Spatial Digital Twin is fully customisable: layout, colour, the information on display, and how each device responds to touch (tap, double tap, hold). It maps to the home, not the other way round.
Local-first control
The app, the twin and the automations run on a server inside the home. Data stays on-site, and most functions keep working even if the internet drops.
