The Journey to a Fully Automated Home
The owners had just moved into the property and wanted more than just a modern look—they wanted their home to be intelligent. We kicked things off with a relaxed sit-down to go through their ideas. From the devices they were thinking about, to how they imagined their daily routine with smart home automation, we covered it all.
Smart Lighting: No Rewiring Needed
Lighting was one of their top priorities. Good news: no rewiring was needed. Since the switches had a neutral wire, we had flexibility in the type of smart switches we could offer—which really opened up the options.
Cutting-Edge Security with Smart CCTV and AI Integration
Security was next. We recommended 9 Hikvision cameras with colour night vision (no harsh infrared needed). They covered all the key angles inside and out. These were paired with our Smart CCTV setup, giving the system AI features like object recognition, sound detection, and real-time alerts. One feature that stood out? Audio recognition—so if their fire alarm goes off while they’re away, they’ll know instantly. Number plate recognition was another win, especially for their smart entry setup.
Energy-Efficient Smart Home Automation
Energy savings were a big deal too. Since the house runs fully on electricity, we added automation that takes advantage of cheaper energy times. Hot water and heating run when rates are low, and the system cuts power to lights or devices when rooms are empty. Even the entire home can go into “holiday mode,” shutting down everything when they’re away. A few months later, they told us their electricity bill had dropped by 41%.
User-Friendly Smart Home Control Through One App
For a clean and easy user experience, we brought everything into a single app. To make it even more visual, we built a custom 3D floor plan—fully interactive. They can now tap into any room, check device status, view camera feeds, and control everything from anywhere.
Integrating Third-Party Smart Devices for Total Control
We also tied in third-party devices they already had: a robot vacuum, smart washer and dryer, TVs, soundbar, a water filter that spots leaks or open taps, and even a cat flap that locks at night. Two electric blinds were automated to respond to time of day—or even close when movie mode kicks in. Oh, and the video doorbell? If someone rings while they’re watching TV, it pauses the show and switches the screen to the front camera. Slick.
Custom Smart Home Automations for Easy Family Access
One clever request they had was to let certain friends or family enter the house automatically. So we set up a system where if a recognised car pulls into the driveway, the door unlocks, the alarm is disabled, and they get a ping on their phone—total control, total peace of mind.
